July 15-17 at the REDCAT*
(*The Roy and Edina Disney/CalArts Theater)

Last Resort was done as a developmental workshop production at REDCAT in August of 2004. It follows the sailing journey of realization and mourning that the two leads/lovers, Pon and Deedo, experience after the end of the the world has drowned everyone except Benny, who was sealed in a creamery vat and therefore also survived. The chorus represents the ones who have died. Eventually Benny too perishes and the two men are left to face the world alone. The Voice, far left, sings the names of the dead for the entire one act of the opera, alternately soloing and blending with the orchestration.
